Sustainable Foods 2025 Recap

Uwe Schröder and Sergio Zapico Mena attended the 4th edition of the Sustainable Foods Conference at the Business Design Centre in London, an event dedicated to advancing sustainability in the food industry. Partnering with Cefetra Ltd and Soil Capital, the conference provided a fantastic opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about building resilient food systems.

Over the course of two insightful days, we connected with partners, industry leaders, and experts to tackle pressing challenges in sustainable agriculture. Discussions on measurement, sustainable finance, legislation, and supply chain collaboration reinforced the need for actionable, scalable solutions. A key takeaway? Managing what we cannot measure remains a fundamental challenge, but existing tools—though imperfect—are crucial for making tangible progress.

A highlight of the conference was our panel discussion, Going Live at Scale: Farming, Certifying, Marketing & Buying Regeneratively Grown Grains, moderated by Tom Heap. As a well-respected voice in the sustainability space and author of Land Smart, Tom guided a compelling conversation on the role of regenerative agriculture in securing food security, improving carbon sequestration, and ensuring long-term resilience.

Matt Cully, farmer from our programme,  provided invaluable insights on the importance of incentive structures that place farmers at the center, ensuring that regenerative practices are agronomically viable and offer long-term benefits. We also discussed the critical role supply chain companies and merchants play in securing high-quality, timely supply while prioritizing soil health as the foundation.

Supply chain collaboration emerged as a key driver of sustainable transformation. Our work with farmers and food & beverage partners to produce low-carbon commodities exemplifies how collective efforts can create a more resilient agricultural landscape.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to build on the conversations, strengthen partnerships, and continue driving meaningful change in our supply chains. The momentum from Sustainable Foods 2025 reinforces our commitment to fostering regenerative agriculture and advancing sustainable food systems—because just good practice isn’t just an aspiration, it’s a necessity.
