Cefetra is working with Noble Green Energy, part of leading egg and poultry producer Noble Foods Group, to help the farming community reduce their Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions, which the partners have identified as the next big challenge in agricultural decarbonisation.
The drive is being promoted to landowners taking part in Cefetra Ecosystem Services, which gives participants financial incentives to cut their carbon footprint while offering customers grains and oilseeds with Science Based Targets initiative-eligible Scope 3 reductions, covering indirect emissions, achieved in the supply chain through regenerative farming.

As part of the partnership Cefetra Ecosystem Services farmers will get free on-farm energy audits to identify potential saving opportunities and put forward ways to improve overall efficiency with tailored expert advice.
Cefetra Ecosystem Services businesses will also benefit from free five-year operations and maintenance agreements when they invest in solar, which the partners say are typically worth between five and 10 per cent of the system value.
Cefetra, a group of leading companies and brands in the animal nutrition and food and drink ingredient industries, is also encouraging farmers to move to solar to cut energy costs and emissions by generating their own clean power, reducing Scope 2 emissions and easing financial pressures.

“As subsidiaries of two trusted agri-food groups with more than 100 years of experience, Noble Green Energy and Cefetra Ecosystem Services share a vision for a lower-carbon future. Together, we are combining regenerative practices and renewable energy solutions to deliver real-world impact on the farm and across the entire supply chain. If you are a grower focused on soil health or a farm business looking to reduce input costs and boost resilience, we can help you take control of your energy use and turn it into a powerful asset for your regenerative farming journey.”
Cefetra Sustainability Specialist Agriculture Jason Hayward-Jones, one of the team behind the Cefetra Ecosystem Services programme, said:
Programme participants are being encouraged to contact their Cefetra Ecosystem Services representative to find out about the Noble Green Energy partnership.
With more than 10 years’ experience delivering large scale solar solutions across the agriculture and commercial sectors Noble Green Energy provides an end-to-end service, from feasibility and design through to installation and maintenance.
“We are delighted to work with the Cefetra Ecosystem Services team as when farmers invest in solar, they not only reduce their own footprint they contribute to a broader movement of stakeholders across the supply chain, from field to food. At a time when costs need to be managed, solar allows farmers to cut electricity bills and secure long-term savings, increase on-farm energy independence and support net-zero and biodiversity goals while receiving a return on investment usually within four years.”
James Foggo, Sales Manager at Noble Green Energy, said:
The landowners who took part in the first Cefetra Ecosystem Services phase have received their payments through the scheme, which was launched to tackle climate change in 2023 by Cefetra.
Cefetra Ecosystem Services is the first initiative to set high standards for climate positive supply chains and reward growers for adopting sustainable farming practices, acting as a bridge between customers tasked with sourcing sustainable suppliers and farmers wanting financial returns on sustainable farming practices.
Partnering with agronomy firm Soil Capital, it offers a toolkit of products and services based on each farm’s data plus action plans. Consumers get sustainable credentials, strengthening the appeal of Cefetra’s reduced impact grains to meet buyer environmental social and governance goals.
With a national team of grain buyers, Cefetra has regional offices across England and Scotland and supplies customers in the animal nutrition, food and drink industries. Founded in 1992, Cefetra Ltd has an annual turnover of over £1.5bn and has its headquarters in Glasgow
