CEFETRA ECOSYSTEM SERVICES Farmers become eligible for HSBC UK SUSTAINABLE FARMING PATHWAY

HSBC UK is widening access to its Sustainable Farming Pathway enabling more UK farmers to transition to sustainable farming practices. Following the successful launch with Linking Environment and Farming (LEAF) in 2024, the Pathway now recognises the Cefetra Ecosystem Services farming programme, its methodology (provided by Soil Capital) and certifications as meeting HSBC UK’s Sustainable Farming Pathway criteria.

Subject to conditions, Cefetra Ecosystem Services Farmers are now eligible  to receive discounted loan arrangement fees on term lending between £25,001 and £25 million1, including flexible business loans, commercial mortgages, and property development loans.

  • Martin Hanson, Head of Agricultural Banking at HSBC UK, says:

“HSBC UK plays an important role in financing the transition towards more sustainable food production. Our Sustainable Farming Pathway is one way we support UK farmers on that journey. We’re pleased to announce we’re now working with Cefetra to help eligible farmers access to finance with discounted loan arrangement fees on applicable products.”

  • Uwe Schroeder, Head of Cefetra System Services said:

The collaboration with HSBC UK is an endorsement for Cefetra Ecosystem Services from a major brand and we are happy to support HSBC UK in its efforts to grow its HSBC UK Sustainable Pathway Programme. The support from a central player in UK farm finance underlines that our efforts at coalition building are bearing fruit. With this collaboration HSBC UK supports UK farming and Cefetra Ecosystem Services.
